Associate Director of Programs


TXT: Teens Exploring Technology

TXT: Teens Exploring Technology is a nationally recognized not for profit organization focused on inspiring young men of color to become confident leaders who use technology as a tool to improve marginalized communities.  Our interdisciplinary curriculum develops leadership, entrepreneurship, design and coding skills among underrepresented teens:  1) A Summer Coding Leadership Academy at USC, 2) an after-school program focused on app development, STEM Careers, and Computer Science, 3) “The Cube”, a “hacker” space for kids to work collaborative on creative ideas, design thinking, and new apps, a safe haven open until 7 Pm.


Associate Director of Programs( ADP )

ADP is responsible for management, outreach, recruitment, marketing activities and tracking program expenses for TXT programs. Oversees the training and supervision of student staff, volunteers and mentors. This person will manage the programs evaluations, maintaining records and monitoring student progress. In addition to strong people skills, the successful candidate needs to be highly organized and take initiative to help TXT become even greater by impacting more kids.  Candidate must be passionate about improving the lives of young Black and Latino boys in marginalized communities.



  • Develop and implement strategy
  • Plan and execute TXT’s high quality coding and youth development programs, (i.e. SCLA, LEAD_CS, Hackathons, and Extension programs);
  • Oversee, conduct assessment of, and reports on all programs; 
  • Coordinate the recruitment and outreach of program participants and volunteers;
  • Facilitate the selection of program participants, collect pre/ post assessment and track TXTrs academic progress;
  • Support and build strong relationships with partners (i.e schools, corporate, and families);
  • Recruit, hire, and oversee youth development training and orientation of all program staff members or volunteers;
  • Collaborate with staff to develop innovative curricular options that include transformative, multidisciplinary learning experiences that align with TXT coding leadership philosophy (especially in tech entrepreneurship, YMOC civic engagement, and computer science);
  • Cultivate collaborative communication and relationships with software developers, UI designers, project managers, product managers and Instructional Design Developers;
  • Work collaboratively with the CEO, Software Developer, and Operations Manager, as needed, to ensure alignment between youth development goals, operational imperatives, and program outcomes;
  • Design and execute growth strategies to ensure the expansion of TXT;
  • Track programming expenses;
  • Others duties as assigned.


Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree, preferably with relevant work experience or fast learner;
  • Self-starter, problem solver, innovator who likes being in a tech start-up environment;
  • Interested in YMOC STEM Ed, innovation and upward mobility for POC;
  • Ability to work under pressures of peak programs and recruitment seasons of activity;
  • Ability to work well, prioritize task, and highly organized in a fluid fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrate efficiency in completing work in a timely manner;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Spanish is a plus but not required; and
  • 2-3 years out of college with a passion for personal growth, preferred Four or more years of experience in a professional role.
