This month, we would like to recognize Marco Solis, an alumnus of TXT’s pilot program.
Marco grew up in South Los Angeles with a raging desire to be immersed in the study of computers and engineering, but without adequate access to those resources. He joined TXT and the rest - as they say - is history.
With an endowment of inspiration and a healthy appetite for hard work, Marco recently completed his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree this spring from Stanford University. As shared with our TXT Summer Coding Leadership Academy during our trip to Stanford University, Marco credits TXT with helping him to aspire for more in life and to aim for possibilities he had not even considered. TXT helped reify his self-confidence, so that he could apply to, and thrive in one of the world’s most renowned universities.
After graduating from Stanford, Marco decided to return, live and continue to give support in his South L.A. neighborhood, while commuting to Glendale, where he works as a mechanical engineer. We are immensely proud of Marco, his accomplishments, and for his willingness to be a torchbearer for the many TXT alumni and South LA teens who are hot on the trail to success.
