TXT Alumni participate in Phone Banking to increase awareness of our Coding Academy

On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, TXT: Teens Exploring Technology spread the message about its Summer Coding Leadership Academy. Young men of color who previously participated in the program called other high school students who are eligible to participate to remind them of the upcoming application deadline. Program coordinator, Debbie Paramo-Martinez and founder, Oscar Menjivar have visited schools throughout South LA to spread the word about their Summer Academy. Today, they following up with over 1000 students who have showed interest to remind them of the April 12th application deadline.IMG_2753.JPG

TXTs Summer Coding Leadership Academy is a 15 week program extending from May 21, 2016 to August 1, 2016, which gives young latino and black men an opportunity express themselves through Computer Science and Entrepreneurship. The applicants will have an opportunity to  learn about leadership skills, programming, UX design, and entrepreneurship.  In the program’s final week,  TXT students will take a trip to San Francisco to visit various technology companies and have an opportunity to pitch ideas to technology companies.

TXT is an award winning program recognized by Google,  which trains youth ages 12-19 computer programing and web/mobile development. We are a non-profit organization that uses technology as a tool for positive youth development and leadership among inner city black and latino male teenagers. Teens Exploring Technology believes exposure to technology at a young age is key to increasing minority tech employment and entrepreneurship.

Eligibility: Be enrolled in Middle School (7th grade, 8th) high school (9th, 10th) as of the application deadline date.
