We’d like to give a special thanks to Media Temple for sponsoring the 2016 Hustle N’ Code Hackathon!   Media Temple provides web and cloud hosting solutions and services to web designers, web developers, enterprises and the agencies that support them so they can focus on running their businesses rather than managing their servers.  Based in our hometown of Los Angeles, the 18-year old company has supported TXT and volunteered with our organization since the very beginning.   “We are honored to continue to sponsor an organization that is doing such impactful and meaningful work to empower...

For the first time ever, TxT took the Summer Coding Leadership Academy “LILs” and Coaches to the Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins for four days at camp. Camping in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains was a brand new experience for nearly everyone and, with its ponds, streams and meadows, a big change from life in South Central Los Angeles.

Throughout their time in the great outdoors, LILs solved challenging puzzles that required teamwork, planning, and critical thinking. Team-building activities took them out of their comfort...

One of our seniors, Cesar Alvarenga who will be attending UC Irvine in the fall majoring in Computer Engineering, shared his experience about TXT and his current attitude about pursuing college.

    Why did you join TXT?

"My brother motivated me through his character development and I wanted the same for myself."

What kind of growth have you seen in TXT?

“I’ve seen a growth in the number of staff, space and resources. The growth in the number of staff reflects a growth in the network for us TXT’ers and to fulfill demand for the...

TXT’s mission is to empower young men of color to become catalysts of change in their community, with a focus on Black and Latino boys. We build confidence in our young men in order for them to change the world with tech.

We have noticed something, however: a lack of resources for young black boys to enter the STEM space or entrepreneurship careers. Sure, there are a number of great programs that serve as a healthy athletic platform for our young black men, but not everyone is going to be Marshawn Lynch with the rock or be able to pull up from the 3 point line like Steph Curry. ...

This month, we would like to recognize Marco Solis, an alumnus of TXT’s pilot program.

Marco grew up in South Los Angeles with a raging desire to be immersed in the study of computers and engineering, but without adequate access to those resources. He joined TXT and the rest - as they say - is history.

With an endowment of inspiration and a healthy appetite for hard work, Marco recently completed his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree this spring from Stanford University. As shared with our TXT Summer Coding Leadership Academy during our trip to...
